Lessons Learned: Your Turn to Share

Updated: Oct 9, 2019

Have you ever wanted to share lessons you have learned with other women who could be struggling with those same troubles you have already walked through? Now is your chance, Stephannie and I are looking for ladies to share their stories and wisdom with our readers. We are planning a series where women from all different stages of life share lessons learned. What lessons have you learned? What lessons are you in the middle of learning? How do you see your current stage of life?

I love the way God molds us and teaches us to be more like Him through our trials and through our triumphs. Maybe you have had one of those moments when you felt like the rug was pulled out from underneath you or you can look back at a specific moment when you were forever changed.

Maybe you don’t have one of those moments, but you have a lesson God has taught you or a message of truth he has laid on your heart to share. It is time to take action. Think about those times when you have been touched and changed by another's words.

I know for me, I love to listen to women talk about parenting who are in a stage or two ahead of me. It helps me rethink how I want to handle those sticky situations like dating and social media when I get there. The blog is named That's the way we see it and the we started as just two women, but I think the WE is moving toward a bigger group...a group of christian women seeking to encourage others in their faith. All I have to do is look around me at the women I encounter everyday to see God working through their lives.

Hear me with this next comment...if while you were reading this there is a story shaping up in your mind or a verse popped into your head, or your heart and mind started racing with phrases and scenes you want to write about, I would argue, it might just be the Lord prompting you to take action. Now, along with that prompting, I can almost guarantee you... you will be confronted with a lie giving you all the reasons why you should just keep quiet. These lies are the very ones we need to learn to silence the moment they start. I’m beginning to recognize them for what they are… fiery arrows from the bad man in the hot place meant to discourage me from speaking truth. My lies I hear usually go something like this…"Who do you think you are? You can’t do _______. People will think __________ about you. You are not good enough at ___________.”

Quiet it. Don’t listen. Think on whatsoever things are true.

The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but the Lord comes that you might have life and have it to the full- John 10:10 When people in the bible met Jesus they couldn't wait to share what he did for them. Their stories helped encourage others in their faith and your story could be just the words someone needs to hear to give them hope.

So, if you think you can’t write well enough that is a lie! Write your story, your message, your truth and don’t worry about the grammar and mechanics...we will revise and edit it for you.

If you don't feel led to write for this Lessons Learned series that is totally okay, but I do hope you will be more aware as you go about your day how your story can encourage others. Just taking a few moments to share with someone might be all they need to keep going, to keep fighting the good fight.

I saw this video yesterday at work about telling your story and how important our stories are to connect with people. It is short and I think you will like it.

Guidelines for Submission

The only parameters we have is your message be encouraging and uplifting to women. You can share your personal story, a favorite verse and what it means to you, or a lesson learned.

Word Count: Don’t worry about that! Write what you feel led to write. We will take care of compiling entries. Some may stand alone or we may group some by topic and theme.

Verses: Include at least one scripture verse. His word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path- Psalm 119:105

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart- Hebrews 4:12

God uses his word to speak directly to our hearts. I love knowing our all powerful mighty God uses his word to accomplish his purpose. I hope in some small way he has used a verse from this blog to speak directly to your heart. I pray for God to give me verses he wants me to include in these post. Don't worry if you don't have a verse right off the bat, sometimes I don't either, but through the writing and praying the verse comes. Sometimes you must simply take action first. Just start writing and the words and verse will come.

Pictures: If you have a picture you want to include be sure to send us the file. If you don’t have pictures we can add one for you.

Email all entries to thatsthewayweseeit@gmail.com by November 1, 2019. We will begin sharing the Lessons Learned series on November 14th.

Thank you so much!

Jennifer and Stephannie
